So now we have a new president, what does it mean to you? Let’s take a look at what president-elect Trump’s position is on the Second Amendment.

Here are highlights we have taken from his position as he ran for office. Here is he’s actual paper from his site.

Trump’s Positions:

The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed upon. Period. Let’s just hope his “period” is not the same as…..” if you want to keep you doctor, keep your doctor – Period.” Trump believes the 2nd Amendment is America’s first freedom.

1) Enforce the laws on the books…. I once read there are over 26,000 firearm laws in the United States. In this section he also suggests law abiding citizens should be able to defend themselves, and our personal protection is ultimately up to us. He believes in concealed carry.

2) Fix the broken mental health system… The government ignores the red flags. He wants to expand treatment programs to help those with issues who are non-violent. Those who are violent, need to be taken off the street.

3) Gun & Magazine Bans… Maryland is a classic example of this over reach. It is a total failure! He believes law abiding Americans should be able to own the gun and magazine of their choosing.

4)Background Checks… There already is a national system, it’s call NICS. Everytime you purchase a firearm from a FFL dealer, you are looked at by the federal government. Criminal do not use gun dealers. The problem is states do not put criminal and mental health records into the system. I know as a fact during Maryland’s battle over SB 281, it was discovered that Maryland at the time was one of the worst states in the nation. The excuse was they were protecting their person’s HIPPA rights. Trump believes we need to make the system work, not expand a broken system.

5) National right to carry…. He believes all permits should be recognized throughout the United States. So if you have a carry permit from one state, you can carry in every state, similar to a driver’s license.

Military bases and recruiter centers…Give the guns back to the trained members of our military. They are trained how to use them safely and responsibly, they should not be left defenseless.

So what does all this mean? When you consider that the President, House and Senate are now lead by republicans, the time for change is now. With adding a Supreme Court justice, we may see an expansion of your rights in the future. Only time will tell.

Excellent HQL training. I have little to no experience with guns, and was concerned that my lack of knowledge would be a hinderance. However, this was not at all the case. I felt totally comfortable in class, and learned a ton. It did not feel like a formality or "box checking" type of class. My husband and I both attended the “Wear and Carry” class in order to obtain our wear and carry permit. To be completely honest before I attended the class I felt as though the class was overpriced after hearing how much other people paid through other companies, BUT I feel as though there is no price on the information I received and I do not feel in anyway was I ripped off nor charged too much . Not only did I learn about gun safety, I also received education on possible situations as well consequences. The class was so good and exceeded our expectations completely. John, Susan and their team of instructors were outstanding and I definitely plan on attending more classes in October.
